Authorities have recovered a body from the area of Island Beach State Park where a 25-year-old swimmer went missing Friday afternoon.

Authorities have recovered a body from the area of Island Beach State Park where a 25-year-old swimmer went missing Friday afternoon.

Local authorities notified the U.S. Coast Guard around 8 a.m. Saturday that the body of a man fitting Nicholas Guilhote's description was found less than a mile away from the stretch of water where Guilhote was last seen, a spokesman said.

Investigators are awaiting a coroner's determination to confirm the man's identity.

Guilhote, of France, was swept away shortly before noon Friday. It was his first time swimming in the ocean, authorities said.

Coast Guard crews suspended the search for Guilhote Friday night after combing 17 square miles of water over the course of six hours.

A Coast Guard spokesman said there were no plans to resume the search Saturday morning before the discovery was made.
