Air-quality alert issued for N.J.

New Jersey is under an air-quality alert today due to high ozone levels.

The air-quality advisory is in effect until midnight.

Ozone amounts are forecast to reach unhealthy levels for sensitive groups -- such as people with respiratory problems, children and the elderly -- across New Jersey today, according to the National Weather Service.

Southwest winds, sunny skies and hot temperatures are all contributing to the high levels, the weather service said.

People in those sensitive groups are advised to avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening.

Forecasters are calling for a high temperature of 94 in the Philadelphia region today.
