Rutgers-Camden confers nearly 2,000 degrees

Thursday's honorary degree recipients included Raymond Ackerman, a South African entrepreneur and equal rights activist, and Sister Mary Scullion, cofounder of Philadelphia-based homelessness nonprofit Project HOME. Faustino Fernandez-Vina, an associate justice on the New Jersey Supreme Court, returned to his law school alma mater as a featured speaker Thursday.
Lisa Ciaranca Kaplan, principal of South Philadelphia's Andrew Jackson Elementary School and winner of the 2015 Escalante-Gradillas Prize for Best in Education, was the speaker for the arts and sciences ceremony.
