2 charged in string of S. Jersey auto thefts

Two South Jersey men are charged with stealing a string of vehicles the past few months from parking lots and residences by brazenly loading them onto a flatbed tow truck in three different towns.

Charles W. Jackmon, 32, of the 100 block of Kirkbride Rd. in Voorhees, Camden County, and  Ronald K. Smith, 48, of the first block of Downs St., Clayton, Gloucester County were arrested as the result of a joint investigation by the Cherry Hill, Collingswood and Pennsauken Police Departments.

Police say the two  stole the vehicles from commercial and business parking lots, as well as from  residential areas.

The stolen autos, all of which were inoperable, were sold for scrap metal.
