Tyhan Brown, 18, of Camden, was indicted for murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and attempted murder. Police said he was trying to shoot another person on Aug. 24 near Eighth and Spruce Streets, but that the bullet hit Gabby instead.
She died two days later at Cooper University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. She had been riding her bicycle across the street from her home when the gunfire erupted.
Gabby's death drew outcry in Camden, where she was the youngest person killed in years. Hundreds of people attended a vigil the day after her death and recalled her as an honor-roll student who loved to read, sing, and ride her bicycle.
Brown was arrested in September after authorities discovered he had traveled more than 800 miles to a town on the Tennessee-Kentucky border, where he hid at his uncle's home for nearly a month.
Brown's mother, Shakia Land, 35, of Camden, was indicted for hindering apprehension and providing false information to detectives. Brown's girlfriend, Natasha Gerald, 19, of Sicklerville, was indicted for hindering apprehension.
