Camden County logs 53rd homicide of 2016

A 32-year-old man was shot dead Saturday night at a Camden apartment complex, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

A 32-year-old man was shot dead Saturday night at a Camden apartment complex, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.

Tyrone Fooks was found suffering from gunshot wounds around 9:03 p.m. near the 3300 building of Independence Village Apartments, police said. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where he was declared dead 15 minutes later.

Police said no arrests had been made, and they did not identify any suspects.

The killing was the 53rd homicide in Camden County in 2016, according to statistics from the prosecutor's office - the highest total since 2013, when the county recorded 67 homicides. At this time last year, there had been 40 homicides in Camden County, records show.
