A truck driver was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 76 in South Jersey Friday morning, police said.

The accident occurred about 4:55 a.m. on I-76 East in Gloucester City, Camden County.

Michael Kouser, 38, of Oaklyn, Camden County, who was driving a tractor-trailer, suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at 7:41 a.m. at Cooper University Hospital, New Jersey State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez said.

Goez said that a Chevy Avalanche truck, which had a flat tire, swerved into the right lane of the highway and was then rear-ended by the tractor-trailer. The crash caused the tractor-trailer to go off the road, striking the guardrail and the barrier wall.

The man driving the Chevy was not hurt, Goez said. He will not be charged because the crash was considered an accident, the trooper said.
