PATCO service disrupted by storm

Damage to equipment caused delays of up to 30 minutes.

Storms that slammed the region Saturday afternoon disrupted PATCO service, the Delaware River Port Authority said.

At Westmont Station in Haddon Township, damage to equipment knocked the track signaling system offline, DRPA spokesman Mike Williams said. (The storm-related damage was initially believed to be caused by a lightning strike, which Williams later said was inaccurate.)

Service was delayed up to 30 minutes in both directions while repair work continued. Shortly before 9 p.m., Williams said the system was returning to its normal schedule, with residual delays.
