A 34-year-old man was fatally shot in Camden on Friday night, the latest slaying in a bloody month that has seen seven homicides so far - and 12 for the year.

About 7 p.m., police were called to Eighth Street and Chelton Avenue in the city and found the victim, Abdullah Fussell, 34, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said Saturday.

Fussell, of Camden, was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 7:10 p.m. Friday.

The 12 deaths so far this year compare to seven at this time in 2015.

Police have made no arrest in Friday's shooting and are asking for the public's help. Anyone with information is asked to contact Prosecutor's Office Detective Christopher Sarson at 856-225-8640 or Camden County Police Detective Mike Ross at 856-757-7420. Tipsters can also send an email to: ccpotips@ccprosecutor.org.

Friday's fatal shooting follows that of two men found dead inside a house in Camden on Thursday morning. Shortly before 9:50 a.m., police were called to a house in the 500 block of South Eighth Street, where they found Richard Lincoln, 50, and Angel Martinez, 33, with gunshot wounds.

The men, who lived in Camden, were pronounced dead at the scene. No arrests were reported in that case.

And about two weeks ago, Aleshia Schmincke Hill, a 25-year-old waitress, and her fiance, John Valerio, 23, were found dead April 4 in their East Camden home on North 26th Street, shot at close range.

No arrests have been made, but law enforcement sources and people close to the couple have said they believed the killings were committed by someone they let into the house, who went there looking for drugs or cash.

The month started with the April 1 homicide of Iris Sánchez, 38, who was allegedly shot by her son, Pedro Mercado, 22, in the cramped home they shared on the 1100 block of North 18th Street. Sánchez was pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital about two hours later. Her son was arrested that night by Camden County officers.

Also on April 1, police at about 8:40 p.m. responded to a report of another shooting and found Angel Soltero, 55, lying in the street near Trenton Avenue and Ninth Street. No arrest has been made in the shooting of Soltero, who had children and several grandchildren.
