Pedestrian killed in Glouco crash

A 34-year-old man died after he was fatally struck by a minivan in Gloucester County on Tuesday night. Washington Township police said John Thurwanger, of Sewell, stepped off the curb to cross Black Horse Pike at Watson Drive when he was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet Venture that was heading south on Black Horse Pike shortly before 10:30 p.m.

A 34-year-old man died after he was fatally struck by a minivan in Gloucester County on Tuesday night.

Washington Township police said John Thurwanger, of Sewell, stepped off the curb to cross Black Horse Pike at Watson Drive when he was hit by a 2002 Chevrolet Venture that was heading south on Black Horse Pike shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Thurwanger was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Venture driver, identified as 52-year-old Mary Brooks, of Williamstown, was not injured.

Police said Wednesday that the crash remains under investigation.
