Haddonfield couple wins $315K Cash 5 jackpot

A Camden County couple purchased the jackpot-hitting ticket that won more than $300,000 in Friday's Cash 5 drawing, according to the New Jersey Lottery.

A Camden County couple purchased the jackpot-hitting ticket that won more than $300,000 in Friday's Cash 5 drawing, according to the New Jersey Lottery.

Lottery officials said the couple, identified only as Gladis and Jose, of Haddonfield, matched all five numbers (1, 20, 29, 31 and 39) to win the $315,470 jackpot.

They bought the ticket at J&J Food Market, located at 145 Haddon Ave. in Westmont, officials said. The retailer will get a $2,000 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.

Gladis, a 62-year-old clerk, and Jose, a 65-year-old truck driver, said in a statement distributed by the lottery that they planned to use their winnings to pay off their mortgage and start thinking about retirement.

"God is good," Gladis said in the statement. "This year we are going to be a part of the one percenters for taxes."

The couple claimed their prize on Monday.

Several other New Jersey lottery players also had lucky weekends.

One Bergen County ticket won $1 million in Saturday's Powerball drawing by matching all five white balls of 16, 19, 20, 29 and 33.

That ticket was sold at the South Main Quick Stop, located at 93 S. Main St., in Lodi.

Powerball tickets purchased in Burlington and Bergen counties also won prizes by matching four white balls and the power ball, which was 10.

The Burlington ticket, sold at Rogers News at 15 E. Broad St. in Palmyra, was bought with the powerplay option, making it worth $20,000.

The Bergen ticket won $10,000 and was sold at Cash's Stationary, located at 58 Park Ave. in Park Ridge.

No one, however, matched all five numbers plus the powerball, so the jackpot for Wednesday's drawing rolls over to an estimated $261 million.
