Brigantine officer accused of sexually assaulting teen

A Brigantine police officer was indicted Thursday in the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in 2012 and 2013, Atlantic County Prosecutor James P. McClain said.

A Brigantine police officer was indicted Thursday in the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in 2012 and 2013, Atlantic County Prosecutor James P. McClain said.

Ralph M. Pereira, 44, of Ontario Avenue in Brigantine, had been arrested May 19 and was later released on $100,000 cash bail.

Pereira allegedly provided the girl with alcohol and made a visual recording of a sex act with her, McClain said. - Robert Moran
