A Clementon man held a knife to a woman's chest and threatened to kill her before injuring two police officers as they tried to arrest him, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 11:20 a.m. Sunday in the Cherrywood Apartments near Erial and Little Gloucester roads. Police said Ronald McGrath, 54, was holding two knives and told the Gloucester Township officers they would have to kill him.

McGrath dropped the knives but then resisted arrest, authorities said, giving the two officers minor injuries that were later treated at Virtua hospital in Voorhees. The woman was also treated there for a cut to her hand.

McGrath was charged with a number of crimes, including criminal attempted murder and terroristic threats. He was held at the Camden County Jail on $1 million bail.
