N.J. man shot to death in S. Phila.

A New Jersey man was shot and killed Friday inside a parked car in South Philadelphia, police said.

Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Wolf Street just before 4 p.m. and found an 18-year-old man in the driver's seat of a 2010 Mercury with two gunshot wounds to the chest, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The man was taken to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A witness told police that the person in the passenger seat was the one who shot the 18-year-old. Two shell casings were found inside the vehicle, Small said. The gunman ran from the scene.

Police have retained surveillance video from an area business. The victim's name was not released. Police said the car was registered to the victim's family in New Jersey. - Claudia Vargas
