A woman is dead and her adult daughter is fighting for her life after they were struck by a pickup truck Sunday night while crossing Evesham Road in Voorhees, police said Monday.

The pickup's driver remained at the scene and has not been charged. An investigation is underway and police said initial reports indicate distracted driving was a factor in the collision.

Police said the 1990 Ford Ranger pickup truck was eastbound on Evesham Road about 8:20 p.m. when it struck Serafina Fel, 63, and her daughter Anna Veksler, 38, at the intersection of Kresson Road.

The women, both of Cherry Hill, were taken to the trauma center at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where Fel was pronounced dead at 9:08 p.m.

Veksler suffered life threatening injuries and was listed in extremely critical condition, police said.

Police are not releasing the name, age or sex of the driver at this time.
