SnapGlow.TV: Modern Gems Galore! Camden County judge Lee Solomon was recovering yesterday from a fractured skull and other injuries he suffered in a bicycle accident Sunday morning.
The 55-year-old Superior Court judge is "progressing nicely, and he's going to need a lot of rest and rehab," said his wife, Dianne Solomon. "He's not going to be back in the courthouse any time soon."
Solomon, of Haddonfield, could be out of Cooper University Hospital's Intensive Care Unit as early as today, she said.
Solomon has been a state judge for more than three years, after stints as a Camden County freeholder and prosecutor, a Republican assemblyman, and an assistant U.S. attorney.
The accident occurred as Solomon was preparing for a 150-mile, round-trip bike ride to Ocean City to raise money for causes related to multiple sclerosis. He was riding with a friend on Church Road near Lenape High School in Medford when he hit a pothole and fell headfirst onto the street about 8:45 a.m. Sunday, according to his wife.
He suffered a brain injury known as subdural hematoma and also fractured his pelvis, his hip, and bones around his eyes, said Dianne Solomon.
The judge has been an avid biker for more than a decade.
"He loves biking - that's his outlet," said his wife. "Instead of getting a Ferrari for his . . . midlife crisis, he got a bike."
