N.J. justices say mediators can settle custody

TRENTON - The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled yesterday that divorcing couples can choose to settle child-custody issues outside of court through mediation. The unanimous decision expanded on a 1997 ruling that lawyers acting as mediators may resolve disputes over alimony. - AP
