Two Cherry Hill men are safe after boat sinks

Coast Guard officials said two Cherry Hill boaters were in good condition after their vessel sank off the South Carolina coast.

The Coast Guard said the 46-foot sport fisher Vision Quest sank yesterday morning north of Winyah Bay. Gary Pache, 39 and Brent Burman, 35, of Cherry Hill, abandoned the vessel for an inflatable boat. The men were picked up by another boat responding to an urgent marine broadcast.

The Coast Guard said its pollution responders were working with Pache, the vessel's owner, to secure and salvage the vessel, which had about 500 gallons of diesel fuel on board. The Coast Guard said a diesel fuel sheen was spotted at the entrance of Winyah Bay, but there had been no reports of wildlife or other environmental impact.
