Drexel student charged with creating fake IDs

A Drexel University student was arrested Tuesday night at a South Jersey mall and charged with selling fake New Jersey driver's licenses to underage buyers, authorities said. Claudio Innocenti, 20, of Monmouth County, was taken into custody at the Deptford Mall, where authorities said he had gone to deliver a counterfeit license to a customer. He was arrested by Deptford police and state officials. "We're serious about fighting underage drinking and protecting the integrity of New Jersey's digital driver's license system," said state Attorney General Anne Milgram. "We charge this defendant was counterfeiting driver's licenses and assisting underage people to drink, putting them and the public at risk." When he was arrested, Innocenti reportedly had a fake license bearing his name and picture in his possession. State detectives have seized seven of the counterfeits allegedly created by Innocenti. The fakes looked real, but lacked valid numbers and security features. Innocenti was held overnight at the Gloucester County Jail and released after posting $75,000 bail. -Sam Wood
