3 more convictions

in hazing death

The last three defendants in the death of a Florida A&M drum major were convicted of manslaughter and hazing Friday, ending a three-year-old case that shined a light on ritualized hazing within the school's famed band.

The six-member jury deliberated for 21/2 hours before reaching a verdict in the 2011 death of Robert Champion. The defendants - Benjamin McNamee, Darryl Cearnel, and Aaron Golson - showed no reaction after the verdict was read in the Orlando courtroom. Champion's parents bowed their heads slightly.

Buffalo killed

Fifteen buffalo that escaped from a farm were shot and killed Friday after they dashed past a group of police, crossed a major highway, and ended up near some schools, authorities said.
