A woman has been charged with shooting and wounding her 15-year-old son during an argument in their North Philadelphia home, police said Monday.

Police did not spell out the nature of the dispute.

Officers responding to a call for a shooting at a residence on the 4600 block of North 12th Street about 6:05 p.m. Sunday were met by the teenager, who told them his mother shot him in the left leg during an argument, authorities said. Police took the teen to Einstein Medical Center, where he was reported in stable condition.

The boy's mother, Rhonda Alvin, 38, remained at the scene and was arrested, officials said.

Investigators recovered two firearms, which Alvin has a license to carry, police said.

Alvin was charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a minor, simple assault, and related offenses, police said. At a hearing earlier, bail was set $75,000, which she posted. A preliminary hearing was set for Monday.
