A 22-year-old Burlington County man was sentenced Tuesday to 21 years in prison for fatally shooting his friend in 2014.

Abdullah H. Sheriff, a Liberian native who was attending Willingboro High School at the time of the slaying, will be deported after he serves his sentence "and Burlington County will face no further risk from him," Burlington County Prosecutor Scott A. Coffina said in a statement.

Sheriff, of Stirrup Lane in Willingboro, pleaded guilty in April to shooting Abenego Wesseh, 21, in the head on March 25, 2014. Wesseh's body was found along a paved path in a wooded section of Fairmount Park in Willingboro.

"This was a calculated, depraved killing, made even more galling by the betrayal by a friend whom Abenego trusted," Coffina said.

Sheriff must serve 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
