S.J. parents charged in breaking infant's bones

The South Jersey parents of an 11-week-old boy are being held on $100,000 bail each after being charged in a case of extreme child abuse.

The infant was suffering from a broken leg and ribs on Jan. 10 when his parents arrived at the Alfred I' DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del.

On Wednesday, police arrested Preston English, 36, and Sara-Lena Lannon, 25, at their home in Deptford Township following an investigation by the Gloucester Co. Prosecutor's office, said spokesman Bernie Weisenfeld.

English and Lannon, who have no other children, were charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the injuries to their son, said Weisenfeld.

The infant has since been discharged from the hospital and is in the care of the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
