S.J. drug bust nets 200,000 bags of heroin, cash

Nearly 200,000 bags of heroin and $200,000 in cash have been seized in a crackdown on narcotics trafficking in South Jersey, authorities said today.

A narcotics task force this morning raided nine properties, including rooms at the Pan-A-Lu and Sea Watch motels in Wildwood, said Cape May County Prosecutor, Robert L. Taylor.

The raids were the culmination of a two-month investigation in Cape May and Cumberland counties. Law enforcement agents arrested and charged two ringleaders of the trafficking organization, Carlos Guzman and Hector Ramos. Nine coconspirators were also charged, according to a statement issued by the prosecutor’s office.

The seized heroin, Taylor said, had a street value of $3.7 million.
