Ambulance crash leaves Rte. 611 paralyzed in Willow Grove
Traffic is “shut down completely” on Rte 611 in Willow Grove after an ambulance crashed into a utility pole.
Television helicopters captured images of the ambulance resting on its side on Old York Road at Maplewood Road.
An Abington Police spokesman said the pole was knocked down about 3 p.m. and “wires are all over the road.”
He did not have any details on injuries that may have been sustained in the crash. Television reports said that two people riding in the ambulance received non-life threatening injuries.
Traffic will be diverted until 9 p.m. between Old Welsh Road and Moreland Ave., the spokesman said.
