The Bensalem black bear, which had been spotted last week roaming wooded areas along the Neshaminy Creek, is dead.
According to reports, the Pennsylvania Game Commission set traps for the animal over the weekend using donuts soaked with maple syrup as bait.
About 11:15 p.m. Sunday, the bear was found limping in the woods behind the old Nifty Fifty's restaurant on Street Road, said Sgt. Andrew Aninsman of the Bensalem Police.
The bear had been struck by a car earlier in the evening and suffered a broken leg. Game Commission officers who had reported to Street Road euthanized the animal, Aninsman said.
