Police ID man killed trying to get into wrong car

A Philadelphia man who was shot and killed early Saturday morning after making the mistake of getting into the wrong car was identified this afternoon as Malcolm King, 42, of the city's Frankford section.

King was waiting for a friend about 5 a.m. outside a Sunoco station on Adams Ave. A car  pulled up to the station, and King, believed it belonged to his friend. He walked up to vehicle and opened the passenger door. The driver, fearing he was about to be robbed, pulled out a handgun and fired, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and surrendered his weapon to police.

King was pronounced dead at 6:10 a.m. Police did not release the name of the driver.
