Pedestrian killed in Bensalem accident

A 51-year-old Philadelphia woman died after she was hit by a pickup truck while walking in Bensalem this morning.

Bensalem police said Maria Feher was killed in the crash that happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Route 1 south of Old Lincoln Highway.

Feher was struck by a 2003 Chevrolet pickup that was driving south on Route 1, police said.

She was not in a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident, and may have been using her cell phone, police said. Feher died at the scene of the crash.

The Chevrolet driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, authorities said.

Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation into the accident is continuing, and any witnesses are encouraged to call police at 215-633-3719.

Southbound lanes on Route 1 were shut down for several hours while authorities investigated. Police said all lanes had reopened by about 10:45 a.m.
