Knife-wielding bandit gets 11 years in deli robbery, stabbing

A South Jersey man was sentenced to 11 years in prison after pleading guilty to the brutal knife-point robbery of a Gloucester County convenience store owner.

Nathaniel Mitchell, 22, held up the owner of the Easy Shoppe Deli in Williamstown on July 29, 2013. The owner recognized Mitchell as a frequent customer of the store, and in a struggle that ensued, Mitchell stabbed the owner four times in the face and head, said Bernie Weisenfeld, spokesman for the Gloucester County Prosecutor's office.

Mitchell, who pleaded guilty to the robbery in May, is currently serving a state sentence for violating probation in a Camden County robbery case.  Following the completion of his prison sentence, he will be required to serve five years of supervised release.
