Five SEPTA Regional Rail lines suspended service because of Amtrak's power problems, SEPTA spokesman Gary Fairfax said: the R1 Airport, R5 Paoli, R6 Cynwyd, R7 Trenton, and R8 Chestnut Hill West.
Service from Boston to Philadelphia, including New York City, was affected by the power outage after severe thunderstorms passed through the region, Amtrak said. The outage also extended west to Harrisburg.
The National Weather Service said Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey were under a severe thunderstorm watch through last evening and a flash-flood watch through this morning. Power outages were reported throughout the area last night, and high winds and hail were reported in Montgomery and Chester Counties. Half-inch hail was reported in Gloucester County, and Trenton had quarter-inch hail. - AP and Inquirer staff
