Snow, deep freeze headed this way

A storm system is expected to bring snow and a deep freeze to the region starting Thursday.

The National Weather Service predicts two to four inches of snow will fall in Philadelphia and surrounding counties on both sides of the Delaware and all the way to the Shore before the precipitation ends Friday morning.

In the meantime, the mercury will dip, with highs of only 21 on Friday and 29 on Saturday. Lows will range from 18 on Thursday night to 7 on Friday before edging upward to around 20 Saturday night.

"Blustery winds will lead to windchill values near or below zero during the period," the service said.

There is a chance of rain or snow Sunday with a high near 40.
