Temple University police on Friday were investigating an incident in which someone scrawled a swastika and a racial epithet in the snow atop a car parked just off campus.

A photograph of the car, parked in the 2100 block of North Carlisle Street, was tweeted Friday morning by Temple student Kelly Dawson, president of the campus Black Student Union.

"Temple University condemns the use of these symbols and language in the strongest terms," university spokesman Brandon Lausch said in an email.

"The university will make every effort to identify those responsible, and will hold them accountable," Lausch wrote.

Dawson told the Tab, an online news outlet, that a member of the Black Student Union's executive board saw the car and shared the photo with other board members.

Lausch said that anyone with information about the incident should contact Temple police at 215-204-1234.
