An emergency-preparedness drill will take place at and near the Limerick Generating Station on Tuesday.

The exercise uses simulated scenarios to prepare staff at the nuclear energy facility in Montgomery County, as well as other emergency organizations, to respond to a real disaster.

Counties, municipalities and some school districts within a 10-mile radius of the plant will participate and staff their emergency response centers, officials said.

The generating station warned that Limerick residents may see emergency vehicles near the plant or hear public-address announcements.

The drill is slated to run from mid-afternoon into the evening.
