Man slain in Frankford shooting

Police are investigating the overnight shooting death of a man in Philadelphia's Frankford section. Officers were called to the 4200 block of Tackawanna Street for a report of gunshots at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police are investigating the overnight shooting death of a man in Philadelphia's Frankford section.

Officers were called to the 4200 block of Tackawanna Street for a report of gunshots at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

They found the male victim suffering from gunshot wounds to his neck and upper torso. The man was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The motive for the shooting wasn't known.

Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that no one reported hearing a fight or argument before the killing.

Witnesses told investigators the shooting may have been committed by two men who were wearing dark clothing and were last seen running north on Tackawanna Street.

The victim wasn't immediately identified.
