PHILADELPHIA - One man was in critical condition Sunday night and several others wounded after a rash of shootings in northern Philadelphia.

One incident happened around 9 p.m. on the 3300 block of H Street in Kensington. A 22-year-old man was shot five times in the chest and taken by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was in critical condition. No weapon was recovered, police said.

A 25-year-old man was shot once in the elbow on the 3300 block of North Sydenham Street in Upper North Philadelphia Sunday evening. He was taken to Temple Hospital by private vehicle, and was listed in stable condition.

Police have made no arrests in either case.

A double shooting happened in the same area just before 2:30 p.m. Two men, 26 and 18, were taken to the hospital in stable condition after being shot on the 3600 block of North Marvine Street. No arrests have been made.

Earlier Sunday, just a block away from the Marvine Street shooting, a 53-year old man was shot inside his home on the 3500 block of Old York Road.

The man came home to find an armed man standing in his kitchen. The victim tried to get the gun away from the suspect, but the attacker, who had a towel over his face, fired twice. One shot landed near the victim's ear.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

The suspect, who is still at large, is described as a heavyset black man about 5-foot-7, mid-20s with a light beard and wearing a black shirt and tan shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call Philadelphia police.
