2 nabbed in South Philly restaurant burglaries

Philadelphia police say they have apprehended two men responsible for a string of burglaries, mostly at restaurants in South Philadelphia.

Many of the break-ins, which happened between April and mid-July, occurred on East Passyunk Avenue, which has become one of the city's hottest dining corridors.

Police said the pair was nabbed on Thursday, when 24-year-old Tony Kimhong was caught trying to force open a door at the Saloon at 750 S. 7th Street, while 31-year-old Chhoeuth Kim acted as a lookout.

Police said the two were also identified as suspects in a burglary at Bridget Foy's at 200 South Street on July 16.

And since they were taken into custody, investigators have linked Kimhong to a series of other burglaries since late April, officials said.

Police said those occurred at Little Italy Pizza on April 30, Centerfolds Lounge on May 24, Pho Ha Saigon on June 7, Bing Bing Dim Sum on June 24, Cloud 9 Vapor Store on June 24, Stogie Joe's on June 25, Adobe Cafe on June 28, Bainbridge Street Barrel House on July 3, Artisan Boulanger Patissier on July 4, 4 Fathers on July 6, and Birra on July 8.

The two Philadelphia men are both facing charges that include burglary and other offenses, police said.
