West Trenton Line shuttle busing starts this weekend

Shuttle buses will run in place of trains on part of SEPTA's West Trenton Line this weekend for a track work project that will affect Saturday and Sunday service until October.

The transit agency said the buses would be operating between the West Trenton and Woodbourne stations.

Passengers traveling into Center City will transfer to trains at the Woodbourne Station to complete their trips, while outbound riders will switch to the shuttle buses there.

Riders should expect longer trips.

Inbound shuttle buses will depart the West Trenton and Yardley stations earlier than regularly scheduled train times, as will inbound trains from the Woodbourne Station. Trains will arrive in Center City at regularly scheduled times.

Outbound trains will leave Center City stations at normal times but arrive at Woodbourne three minutes later than usual. The shuttle buses will leave the station and arrive at the Yardley and West Trenton stations later than normal.

The work will continue every weekend through Oct. 4, except for Labor Day weekend, when regular train service will operate, and Sept. 26 and 27, when limited express-style service will be running for the papal visit.

SEPTA said the track work project is part of its efforts to install Positive Train Control equipment. The PTC technology could have prevented this spring's deadly Amtrak crash at Frankford Junction.

Signs at the affected stations will list bus departure times and boarding locations. Detailed information about the adjusted schedules available at septa.org.
