Delco nurse charged in insurance fraud scam

A Delaware County nurse has been charged in an alleged insurance fraud scam for claiming she was too injured to work at a hospital but was found to be teaching an intensive fitness classes, the District Attorney's office announced Monday.

Jamie Scott, 36, of Ridley Township, reported she injured her shoulder in August 2014 while lifting a heavy patient at Taylor Hospital. She was allowed to return to light duty but claimed she was still in pain.

In April, Scott reported to work 84 times at the Ridley Township YMCA as an instructor for TRX resistance band training and spinning classes.

Scott was charged with filing false insurance claims, theft, and other related charges. Scott was arrested Thursday and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
