A 2-year-old boy who was injured Monday night with his mother in a hit-and-run crash in the North Philadelphia's Fairhill section died early Thursday.

Philadelphia police said David Aliciea was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m. at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, where he was taken after the crash on the 2700 block of North Mascher Street.

The child's 19-year-old mother was carrying him in a car seat about 7 p.m. Monday when they were struck by a white Infiniti, possibly a 2007 model, which fled, according to police.

The mother, Josephine Rivera, was taken to Temple University in critical but stable conditon. The young woman was later released from the hospital, police said, and was at her son's bedside until his death.

Investigators are still looking for the striking vehicle. A police spokeswoman said Thursday morning that no new information had surfaced about the car or the identity of the driver.

Officials have said the four-door sedan, which may have been carrying two white or Hispanic men, didn't slow down as it turned onto Lehigh Avenue and the car likely has some front-end damage.

A $20,000 reward is being offered for information in the case. The amount was doubled from an initial $10,000 reward after the boy's death.

The accident happened the same night as another hit-and-run crash that killed a 4-year-old boy in Southwest Philadelphia's Kingsessing session.

Abdul Wilson was struck and fatally injured about 6:30 p.m. Monday when darted into the street between two parked cars, police said.

Police recovered the vehicle involved in that crash, a black 2014 Ford Edge, in a parking garage below LOVE Park on Tuesday night.

A lawyer for a woman considered a person of interest in the case was in discussions with the District Attorney's Office, but there is no word yet if she plans to surrender.

A $20,000 reward for information is also being offered in that case.

Anyone with information should call the Accident Investigation Division at 215-685-3180.
