HILLTOWN As of this week, Bucks County has preserved 176 of its farms, or about 15,000 acres of agricultural land.
The latest swath to be protected is the 56-acre Henry and Charlotte Rosenberger farm on Blue School Road in Hilltown. On Wednesday, the Bucks County Commissioners voted to pay about $53,000 to buy the property's development rights, while the state chipped in about $500,000.
The farm boasts about 21 acres that grow hay and an additional 18 acres that grow corn crops. The county's Agricultural Land Preservation program has 43 farms on the waiting list. - Ben Finley
