Pa. state senators' bios available online

MEDIA A new database provides biographies of former Pennsylvania state senators.

Sen. Dominic Pileggi (R., Delaware) announced the searchable online database on Tuesday. Biographies of 1,487 senators, dating to 1791, are available through the site.

"This is a real treasure for students of history," Pileggi said in announcing the site.

Users can search the site and suggest additions and corrections.

"Our hope is that historians, both professional and amateur, can help us improve the biographies," said Pileggi, chairman of the Senate's Legislative Data Processing Committee.
