District court will get new home

LANSDALE The district court in Lansdale is moving to a new location, vacating the Main Street building it has occupied for more than 20 years.

Ken Starr, Montgomery County's director of assets and infrastructure, said the move is necessary because court operations have expanded over the years.

"With increased caseload comes more people, more parking needs. . . . The file storage is inadequate. The space for staff is inadequate," he said.

The new location, 430 Pennbrook Parkway, will offer more space and better public safety for court operations, under the direction of District Judge Harold D. Borek.

The county commissioners approved the new lease Thursday at a cost of about $1.2 million over the next 15 years.

Starr said the move will happen in the next three to six months. - Jessica Parks
