Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a shooting on I-95 in Chester that left a woman slightly injured after the car in which she was a passenger swerved to avoid the gunfire.

The shooting occurred about 11 p.m. Saturday in the northbound lanes of the highway north of the Kerlin Street exit, police said.

The 43-year-old woman and the 46-year-old male driver were in a car in the center lane when someone in a car in the left lane opened fire several times on their vehicle, police said.

The driver swerved and struck a guard rail, police said. He then drove to Crozer Chester Medical Center where the woman was treated for minor injuries related to the crash.

Police did not report a possible motive in the shooting.
