Cadets from area colleges to march and donate to veterans

EDGMONT ROTC cadets from area universities have scheduled a Norwegian Foot March through Ridley Creek State Park.

The event is scheduled for Saturday at 8:30 a.m., according to Haley Photis of Army ROTC public affairs.

Each cadet will carry a 25-pound ruck sack loaded with cans to donate to two local veterans groups for the 18.6-mile march.

About 134 cadets from Dauntless Battalion are expected to participate. Its members include students from Villanova, West Chester, and Widener Universities, cadets from the Valley Forge Military Academy and College and University of Delaware, and soldiers from the National Guard.

Finishers will receive a foreign military badge for their uniforms. Men need to complete the challenge in 41/2 hours and women in 51/4 hours to qualify. - Mari A. Schaefer
