ONE UPPER DARBY mother took her parenting cues from LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out," when she urged her daughter to fight another girl in the parking lot of a gas station on Friday afternoon, police said.

"She flunked Parenting 101," said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood. "Kids are kids but parents that push them to have a fight, that makes no sense whatsoever."

This month's contender for mother of the year, Nicole Holton, 36, was shameless when police broke up the fight and tried to get to the bottom of how it started, Chitwood said.

"She told police, 'Me and my daughter met here, and I let them handle their problem because the school did not do s---,' " Chitwood said, quoting from Holton's affidavit.

But that wasn't exactly true, police said. About 30 minutes before the fight, about 2 p.m. Friday, Holton appeared in the main office of Upper Darby High and told administrators her 16-year-old daughter was being bullied by a 17-year-old classmate, and she wanted the school to do something about it, Chitwood said.

School officials told Holton that since it was the end of the school day, they would address the situation Monday morning, police said. Holton allegedly told school officials that was OK and left.

After school let out, Holton, her daughter and two unidentified females went to the parking lot of the Exxon gas station at State Road near Lansdowne Avenue and waited for the 17-year-old girl to pass by, police said. The 17-year-old tried to ignore calls from Holton's daughter, but the girls eventually fought as Holton looked on, Chitwood said.

The fight was only broken up when police drove by, and that's when Holton told officers that she let the girls "handle their problem because the school did not do s---," Chitwood said.

Holton was arrested and charged with corrupting the morals of a minor, endangering the welfare of a child and related offenses.
