WEST CHESTER The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts will give 12 arts organizations and programs in Chester County $84,516 in grants to help with costs, State Sen. Andy Dinniman (D., Chester) announced Tuesday.

The organizations and programs that received state funding were the Art Partners Studio in Coatesville, Brandywine Ballet Company in West Chester, Chester County Art Association in West Chester, Historic Yellow Springs in Chester Springs, the Kennett Symphony of Chester County, the Paoli Blues Fest of Tredyffrin, the Pennsylvania Public Radio Associates for the Echoes program, People's Light and Theatre Company in Malvern, and the Phoenix Village Art Center in Phoenixville.

The Kennett Area Senior Center, the Coatesville Cultural Society, and West Whiteland Friends of the Park also received funding.

"Being among the art groups that receive the grant is an honor," said Monica Buffington, executive director of Kennett Symphony of Chester County, which received $3,540. "This kind of funding helps us to close the significant gap that happens between ticket prices and the cost of putting on a full symphonic orchestra."
