Route 29 project nearly complete

EAST WHITELAND The final resurfacing of a newly widened stretch of Route 29 will begin Wednesday, marking one of the last steps to complete the $4.2 million project, the state Department of Transportation said in a news release.

The paving will take place between Yellow Springs Road and Phoenixville Pike in East Whiteland and Charlestown Townships. Crews will remove the old surface from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday and pave the roadway from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Tuesday through Thursday.

The project, meant to improve traffic flow in the congested corridor that carries 15,000 vehicles a day, is expected to be completed in mid-September once crews have installed guide rails and adjusted traffic signals. - Tricia L. Nadolny
