Police probe suspicious death of woman found in Pennypack Park

Police are investigating the death of a 46-year-old woman whose body was found early Tuesday in Pennypack Park, Homicide Capt. James Clark said.

The woman, who lived nearby, went out jogging around 9 p.m. Monday and never returned home, Clark said.

Her husband went out a few hours later to search for her, then around 2:30 a.m. reported her missing to police, Clark said.

Shortly after 6 a.m., a passerby found the woman's body near Holme and Convent Avenues. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It's a suspicious death. I don't want to get into particulars," Clark said.

Relatives and neighbors on her Northeast Philadelphia block identified her as Constance McClain-Murray, as did 15th District Officer John Ross on Twitter. A neighbor said she was a mother of two.

The Medical Examiner's Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy Wednesday morning, Clark said.

He advised women walking or jogging through Pennypack Park to make sure "they always have someone with them."
