Archdiocese selling its nursing homes, senior residence
IN THE LATEST measure to combat its budget deficit, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia has made a deal to sell its six nursing homes and an assisted-living facility for $145 million, officials announced.
Center Management Group, based in Flushing, N.Y., will buy the Archdiocese's facilities, which are spread throughout Philadelphia, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. Center Management owns numerous similar facilities in New York and New Jersey.
The Archdiocese also has made strides toward fixing its deficit by striking an $89 million deal to lease cemeteries to a private company.
