A son of Ukrainian immigrants, Mr. Tanenbaum attended Olney High School and the Temple University School of Dentistry.

A prize winner at Temple for his work in pediatric dentistry, he also served in the Army Dental Corps in 1942 and attained the rank of captain before leaving the service in 1946.

Mr. Tanenbaum worked as a dentist and lived with his wife of 66 years, Frances Chernofsky Tanenbaum, in Logan, Glenside, Ventnor, N.J., Jenkintown, and Philadelphia. His wife died in 2010.

"He was well-loved by all of his patients," said daughter Sandra. "He was good at both the technological side and the human side of dentistry."
